Kyrgyzstan expects expansion of air connectivity with EU countries

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Daniyar Amangeldiev, took part in an event of the European Commission dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the EU Air Safety List.

Daniyar Amangeldiev stated that Kyrgyzstan views the country’s recent removal from the European Union’s aviation safety blacklist as the beginning of a new stage of cooperation with European partners.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan has carried out large-scale reforms in civil aviation in recent years. As a result, the national regulatory framework has been brought in line with international standards, state oversight has been strengthened, and flight safety levels have improved.

The First Deputy Head of the Cabinet expressed gratitude to the European Commission, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for their support of aviation sector reforms in Kyrgyzstan.

During the visit, Daniyar Amangeldiev also met with Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism. The sides discussed the development of cooperation in civil aviation, transport connectivity, and sustainable transport.

The Kyrgyz side confirmed its interest in expanding air traffic between Kyrgyzstan and European Union countries and further cooperation with the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The European Commissioner noted Kyrgyzstan’s significant progress in reforming the aviation industry and praised the country’s leadership for their political commitment to reforms in line with international standards.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen their partnership in the transport sector.
