Following Kyrgyzstan’s removal from the European Union aviation blacklist, the country has intensified negotiations on launching flights to Europe. The Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency, Daniyar Bostonov, said on Birinchi Radio.
According to him, discussions are currently underway with Germany’s Ministry of Transport.
«We aim to resume the flights to the Federal Republic of Germany that existed previously. We are also negotiating with Polish airlines. In addition, our state-owned company Asman Airlines has purchased Airbus A321 aircraft capable of operating flights to the EU. We are waiting for these aircraft to be delivered and will fly there,» he said.
He noted that people often think that the current discussion is specifically about direct flights, but this is «just the tip of the iceberg.»
«The issue is very serious and affects the country’s reputation, including investment attraction not only in civil aviation but in general. We will also discuss investment opportunities with international partners, including countries in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and others,» he added.
He also stressed that Kyrgyzstan will continue aligning and harmonizing its civil aviation regulations with international standards.
«We are not standing still — we are also improving our internal instructions and regulations. Most importantly, after exiting the blacklist, we must report to the European Commission every six months for three years on how we maintain the safety standards identified during the audit. We remain under close supervision,» he said.
Kyrgyzstan has been removed from the EU aviation blacklist for the first time in 20 years, giving national carriers the right to operate flights to Europe.
