MP Elvira Surabaldieva has been elected Chair of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Zhogorku Kenesh.
The decision was adopted during a parliamentary session on February 19, with 69 deputies voting in favor of Surabaldieva and one voting against.
The committee was previously chaired by Eldar Sulaimanov. He submitted a letter of resignation on February 17, after which the Central Election Commission (CEC) stripped him of his mandate early.
