Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Meder Aliyev proposed to introduce a norm in the draft Labor Code to reduce the working day during a heat wave.
He noted that this is an international practice.
Cholponkul Magyarov, director of the Service for Control and Supervision of Labor Legislation, said: the Code stipulates that the employer is obliged to ensure safe working conditions for its employees.
«Two years ago, when there was an abnormal heat, there was an order that the employer was obliged to provide drinking water for employees and to shorten the working day by an hour for people over 50. But the Code does not provide for such a norm,» he said.
Meder Aliyev recommended introducing this norm because it affects the category of elderly citizens, people with cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure.
