Patient attacked a doctor on duty in a district hospital. The head of the Independent Medical Trade Union, Bermet Baryktabasova, posted on Facebook.
She told 24.kg news agency that this incident happened in one of the hospitals in Chui region.
«The patient was admitted to the medical facility in a state of alcoholic intoxication, in affective state. She was hospitalized, treated, but when she came to herself, she began to show aggression, wanted to go home, although according to the indications, she needed to stay under medical supervision for a while. The attending physician did not have time to say the patient that she can’t leave the hospital in such a state, when the patient hit her head against the wall several times, and then began to strangle her. The victim contacted the police, and her statement was accepted. The medical worker was hospitalized with a concussion,» the head of the trade union said.
Multiple reports of attacks on medical workers have been registered. In July 2024, an ambulance doctor was beaten in Bishkek. In February, doctors from the Osh Regional Mental Health Center were injured, and a doctor from the National Hospital was attacked at the end of December 2023.
Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev instructed lawyers to work out the issue of protecting health workers at the legislative level from attacks by relatives of patients. The issue was also raised at a parliamentary session on February 8. Deputies proposed to take measures for protection of doctors and increase the liability of responsible people.
No decisions made were reported later.
