Federal Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis will arrive in Kyrgyzstan. The Swiss Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The purpose of the two-day visit is to strengthen cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the visit Ignazio Cassis plans to meet with President Sadyr Japarov and Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev in Cholpon-Ata. The Swiss Minister will also meet with representatives of international organizations, embassies, the business sector, civil society and citizens of Switzerland living in Kyrgyzstan at a reception to celebrate Swiss National Day.
«During his stay, Ignazio Cassis will get acquainted with the progress of projects supported by Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan totaling more than $500 million since 1994. In addition, he plans to learn more about Kyrgyz culture and see natural beauty including Issyk-Kul lake, mountains and glaciers,» the statement says.
Ignazio Cassis has headed the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs since 2017 and served as President of the Swiss Confederation in 2022.
