Shamaldy-Sai will become a city of district significance during the administrative-territorial reform. The First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev said at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial and Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, according to him, as a result of the administrative-territorial reform in Jalal-Abad region, the number of aiyl aimaks will be reduced from 67 to 37.
The official added that the territory of Jalal-Abad will increase due to the annexation of nearby villages.
