Suspects in vandalizing sewing workshop employing foreigners detained

Suspects of committing mass riots against foreign citizens have been detained. The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Chui region of Kyrgyzstan reported.

On May 18, at about 4.30 a.m., about 60-70 people came to the sewing workshop of A-S T LLC, located on Kurmanjan Datka Street in Alamedin village. Citizens of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan worked and lived there. The unknown people entered the building and organized a pogrom, destroyed property, caused bodily harm to foreigners, took away money and cell phones. After that they fled.

A criminal case was initiated under Article 278 «Mass Riots» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

It was established during investigation that material damage was caused to the sewing workshop of A-S T LLC, 14 foreign citizens received various bodily injuries, three of them were hospitalized in hospital No. 4 of the City Health Department and the maxillofacial department of the Republican Hospital.

The suspects were identified: B.B., 56, T.B., 29, D.B., 21, R.A., 21, and A.K., 19. They were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

During the search in the suspects’ houses, five Redmi, Samsung cell phones, money (rupees and soms), and clothes of the suspects were seized.

The investigation continues.
