St. Petersburg is strengthening economic and humanitarian cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. Its Governor Alexander Beglov stated this at a meeting with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov in St. Petersburg, local media reported.
He noted that cooperation with Kyrgyzstan is one of the important areas of international activity of the government of St. Petersburg. «We are consistently strengthening our friendly relations and developing mutually beneficial partnerships,» said the head of Russia’s northern capital.
According to him, an important step was the opening of the Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in St. Petersburg in September. Cooperation agreements with the Kyrgyz Republic, the cities of Bishkek and Osh are in force.
Delegation of Kyrgyzstan annually takes part in the work of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is actively developing. Last November, a series of cultural and educational events St. Petersburg Meetings in Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek and Osh cities.
The 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental St. Petersburg-Kyrgyzstan Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation is planned in the northern capital in the second half of 2024.
President Sadyr Japarov was the first to arrive in St. Petersburg to participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of the EAEU and the informal summit of leaders of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
