About 40 farmers from Issyk-Ata district held a rally in front of the Government House in Bishkek due to lack of irrigation water. Director of the Water Resources Service Almazbek Sokeyev commented on the current situation to 24.kg news agency.
«The problem lies in the fact that the water content of Issyk-Ata river has decreased this year to a volume of 5 cubic meters per second. It was 10 cubic meters last year. We have worked out all options. We will supply water from Alamedin river. The issue should be resolved within the next two days. There is not enough water, we have introduced the queue for irrigation, but not everyone wants to wait,» he said.
Farmers from Nizhnechuisk village also complained about the lack of irrigation water.
