Man detained in Bishkek for inciting ethnic hatred on social media

A suspect in inciting racial, ethnic, religious or inter-regional hatred was detained in Bishkek. Press service of the Central Internal Affairs Department of the capital reported.

The active social media user was detected on May 2.

An analysis of his account showed that publications aimed at inciting ethnic hatred, as well as promoting the inferiority of citizens on the basis of their nation have been regularly posted on his page.

The posts of the man were widely discussed by users of social media, which could lead to ethnic conflicts.

On the basis of the conclusion of examination, the Investigation Service of the Internal Affairs Department of Sverdlovsky district initiated a criminal case under Article 330 «Inciting racial, ethnic, religious or interregional hatred (discord)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The 32-year-old citizen was taken to the investigation service. He was placed in the temporary detention facility.

Investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
