Former president of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev again commented on the meeting in Dubai, where the current head of state gathered all his predecessors. He gave an interview to the YouTube channel Avtor TV.
According to Askar Akayev, the meeting of the former presidents is Sadyr Japarov’s historic initiative.
He was asked about his attitude towards Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Roza Otunbayeva, Almazbek Atambayev and other politicians who came to power after the events on March 24, 2005 (on this day the first head of state was overthrown, he fled the country. — Note of 24.kg news agency).
Askar Akayev said that he had no accusations against them, he called their accusations against him «forced populism.»
He added that they all worked with him at different times.
«... I did not throw a stone either in their direction or in the direction of their children. Therefore, as for other ex-presidents who came after me... history and society will judge. Our Kyrgyz people are rich in critics, so it is their business, not mine to give an assessment, criticize,» said Askar Akayev.
The former head of the country believes that the presidents who came to power later blamed him out of hopelessness and earned their authority.
Askar Akayev answered the question whether the meeting in the UAE was Sadyr Japarov’s preparation for the return of Kurmanbek Bakiyev to Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, Sadyr Japarov clearly said at this meeting: everyone should be held accountable within the law.
«The main thing is that he said that he would create the conditions for this. Thanks to him. He created conditions for me two years ago. He said: «If you want to resolve your issues, you can come and be held accountable according to the law. I took advantage of this chance and came to the country the very next day. I arrived several times. From morning to evening I sat in the building of competent authorities and answered all questions, gave evidence and at the end officially addressed the people and asked for forgiveness. I did all these procedures under the law,» he said.
Earlier, Askar Akayev has already commented on the meeting and praised Sadyr Japarov. Almazbek Atambayev, the initiator Sadyr Japarov, Sooronbai Jeenbekov also commented on the meeting.
