Electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan grows by 5-10 percent annually

Electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan is growing by 5-10 percent annually. Deputy Minister of Energy Sabyrbek Sultanbekov announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on fuel and energy complex.

According to him, during this time, electricity generation increased by only 60 megawatts thanks to small hydroelectric power plants.

«We will add 240 megawatts at Toktogul HPP, and 120 megawatts at Kambarata HPP. We plan to launch Bala-Saruu next year, it will generate 25 megawatts,» the official said.

According to him, construction of wind farms and solar stations is planned in Kyrgyzstan.

«After the recent events, I visited Batken and saw the need of the region. I propose to investors to build a solar station with a capacity of 100 megawatts in Leilek,» the Deputy Minister said.
