Kempir-Abad: Sadyr Japarov responds to criticism of Adakhan Madumarov

The President, in another interview with Kabar, commented on the situation around Kempir-Abad reservoir and responded to criticism of the deputy of the Parliament Adakhan Madumarov.

According to Sadyr Japarov, Madumarov has been sitting in Parliament all his life, he became a theoretician. He has never been involved in practical activities, so he does not know how everything actually happens.

He added that during heavy rains this summer, some Kyrgyz villages were washed away by floods in Suzak district. We crossed to the Uzbek side and turned off the water.

«Of course, when you turn off the water, the water level in the reservoir rises a little. It, at most, can rise to 20-30 centimeters. Only such cases can be called force majeure. Now we will also manage the reservoir. In the future, if any problem arises, we will solve it together... The Kyrgyz side will not incur any costs,» Sadyr Japarov said.

According to the president, Adakhan Madumarov has a malicious intent — to play the countries off against each other, but he will not succeed.

Kempir-Abad reservoir (it is called Andijan in Uzbekistan) is located at the junction of Osh and Jalal-Abad regions of Kyrgyzstan and Andijan region of Uzbekistan. It was built in 1983 on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 1973, Uzbekistan provided land compensation — 4,100 hectares were transferred to Kyrgyzstan.

Water from Tar, Kara-Kuldzha and Kara-Darya rivers flows into Kempir-Abad. The reservoir belongs to Kyrgyzstan. Its area is 4,400 hectares. The maximum filling volume is 1.9 cubic kilometers. Once it was leased to Uzbekistan.
