The Information Policy Service of the Presidential Executive Office of Kyrgyzstan has submitted a draft of a new law on mass media for public discussion.
It introduces legal regulation of the Internet. That is, everyone who disseminates information on the Internet, including bloggers, are given the status of mass media. It is worth noting that the amendment will also affect users of social media, since they also distribute information on the Internet.
It is clarified that foreigners cannot be founders of mass media. It is proposed to re-register media outlets by June 1, 2023. Those who do not pass it will be considered liquidated.
