Uzbek border guards dig trenches at border, locals are worried

Uzbek border guards are carrying out construction work on the territory of a border village in Batken. Deputy Yrysbek Atadzhanov announced at a meeting of Parliament.

According to him, the military of Uzbekistan began to dig trenches and install wire fences in the border village of Arpa-Sai, Batken region.

«Arpa-Sai is a border village. Residents told me that Uzbek border guards are working on the territory of Kyrgyzstan,» the deputy said.

The total length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is 1,378 kilometers. At least 92 percent of the border had been demarcated by 2019.
