NABU organizes expedition to Chon-Kemin nature park

Employees of the branch of Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) organized an expedition to Chon-Kemin nature park. Press service of the organization reported.

«Expeditions to explore wildlife are held regularly. Deputy Emil Toktoshev, head of the Department of Bioresources of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision Bekbaatyr Buzurmanov, director of NABU-Kyrgyzstan Tolkunbek Asykulov, and a game warden of Kemin district Urmat Abykenov joined the expedition this time,» the statement says.

The first point of the expedition was the upper reaches of Chon-Kemin valley — the high mountain pasture Kok-Oirok.

«The unique nature of Chon-Kemin nature park appeared in all its diversity — mountain goats, marmots, feathered and other animals came into view of the expedition.

The Chon-Kemin mountains are the habitat of snow leopard, ibex, bears, marmots, badgers and many other representatives of flora and fauna.

Expedition participants also helped a young family with a child who spent the night in the mountains when their car got stuck in the snow of Chon-Kemin highlands. The friendly team rescued the car from snow captivity and fed the frozen people with hot meals,» NABU said.

The final destination on the two-day expedition was NABU’s Environmental Education and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
