Japan announces self-extinction of delta strain of coronavirus

The incidence of COVID-19 in Japan has declined after the delta strain of the virus self-destructed. Professor at the National Institute of Genetics Ituro Inoue announced such a version. The Japan Times reports.

The scientist suggests that this strain of coronavirus disappeared due to constant mutations, which «broke» the delta strain.

It is also noted that, in addition, the COVID-19 incidence in Japan could have decreased due to high rates of vaccination and compliance with measures of protection against infection.

The country broke records for daily incidence rate for three months: the number of cases reached 26,000. At the moment, this figure barely reaches 200 cases.
