Kubat Otorbaev resigned as the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan. He himself told journalists.
According to him, this decision is deliberate and was made without any pressure from the outside.
«Over the past two and a half years, the Institute of the Ombudsman has done a great job in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms. For the first time in the 15-year history of the Institute, 19 special reports on the various rights and freedoms of citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been drawn up,» Kubat Otorbaev said.
«Corruption is a source of trampling on the human rights and freedoms. Efforts of the President Sooronbai Jeenbekov, aimed at fighting corruption, were set on the right track,» Kubat Otorbaev stressed.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to fully protect the rights of the citizens without radical reforms in the judicial system, the prosecutor’s office and the law enforcement agencies.
