According to the former Prosecutor General, Almazbek Atambayev several times sent questions to former president of transition period Roza Otunbayeva and Azimbek Beknazarov himself why 51 percent of MegaCom shares were not nationalized at the time.
«Yes, I personally was against nationalization. Because we would act then, like Maxim Bakiyev, and actually seize the company by raiding. I always advocated for the transfer of shares of this cellular company to its rightful owners," Azimbek Beknazarov said.
In his opinion, the government will not be able to sell MegaCom, as litigation with the company’s owners is not over yet.
«Nobody will buy MegaCom. After all, tomorrow, after the change of power, the company will be seized from new owners, because it will be sold in violation of the laws," he said.
Recall, MegaCom was put up for sale with 100-percent share of stocks. Auction did not take place three times: there was none wishing to acquire the problematic asset.
