Kyrgyzstan takes 95th place in ranking of most innovative countries

Kyrgyzstan took the 95th place in terms of innovative development according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and a number of partner research centers. TASS reported with reference to the press service of WIPO.

As noted, Russia is on the 45th position between Greece and Chile. Ukraine takes the 50th, Moldova — the 54th, Armenia — the 59th, Georgia — the 68th place. Kazakhstan turned out to be on the 78th place, Azerbaijan — on 82nd, Belarus — on 88th. Even Tajikistan is ahead of Kyrgyzstan, which occupies the 94th position in the rating.

As the experts explained, the basis for the rating with the participation of 127 countries is the Global Innovation Index, which takes into account such indicators as the development of institutions, education and infrastructure, as well as business conditions. Authors take the information for the index from more than 30 public and private sources. The main theme of the research this year is innovations in agriculture and food production.

The most innovative countries in 2017 are Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. Switzerland takes the first place for the seventh year in a row.

In general, countries with high incomes per capita took 24 places out of the first 25. The exception was China, which is on the 22nd place. Experts explained that China is the only country with average per capita incomes, which has managed to win a position in the top 25 for innovations.
