Presidential elections may take place on October 15, 2017

If the parliament adopts the Constitutional Law On Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic On the Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Deputies of the Parliament, the presidential election will be held on October 15, 2017. The deputy Almambet Shykmamatov said this at the meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, judicial and legal issues and regulations of the Parliament.

He asked the representative of the Central Election Commission whether the CEC would have enough time to hold all the necessary election procedures by December 1, 2017, if the elections are scheduled for October 15.

«Will you have enough time to carry out such procedures as inauguration, counting of votes, possible lawsuits for 45 days or there is a need to move the elections to October 1?» Almambet Shykmamatov asked.

As member of the CEC Abdyzhapar Begmatov said, if according to the draft law the elections are moved to October 15, then after them the Central Election Commission must sum up the results of the voting within 20 days, and it would be possible to sum up the election results by December 1.
