President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed a law introducing amendments to the Law «On the Status of a Deputy of the Zhogorku Kenesh.»
The amendments clarify which types of paid activities members of Parliament may engage in alongside their parliamentary duties.
Under the updated law, MPs are still prohibited from engaging in other paid employment; however, they are now allowed to receive remuneration for teaching, scientific, and creative work.
The document also provides a more detailed definition of what constitutes scientific, pedagogical, and creative activity. Scientific and teaching work is defined as activity carried out in accordance with legislation in the fields of education and science. Creative activity is defined as the creation, use, and commercialization of the results of one’s own creative work in the fields of science, literature, and the arts in line with copyright law.
It is noted that such activities have to be carried out outside the time of parliamentary sessions, committee meetings, commissions, factions, and deputy group work.
The law will enter into force in 10 days.
