The Main Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan announced that, in accordance with a presidential decree, the deadline for the legalization of vehicles with foreign number plates has been extended until September 1.
Owners of vehicles currently held in impound lots may retrieve their cars and apply for the legalization procedure at local offices of the Main Traffic Safety Department.
Before legalization, all outstanding fines and mandatory payments must be fully paid.
A preferential storage fee of 50 soms per day has been introduced for vehicles kept in impound lots. In addition, vehicle owners will receive a 50 percent discount on the total accumulated storage charges.
The agency urged citizens not to delay the legalization process and to take advantage of the opportunity before September 1.
