Kyrgyz Taigans triumph at World Championship in Italy, winning gold

Dogs of the Kyrgyz national breed, the Taigan, have achieved major success at the World Dog Show held from June 3 to 7, 2026, in Bologna, Italy, under the auspices of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

Kyrgyzstan was represented at the international event by Taigans from the Favorite-Alatoo kennel. The breed championship took place on June 6 and was judged by FCI expert Miguel Ángel Martínez from Argentina.

Both Kyrgyz dogs received high scores and won in their respective classes. Bermet from Favorite-Alatoo took first place in the champion class, while Favorite-Alatoo Ai Peri won the intermediate class.

Following the final comparison for Best of Breed, Bermet was awarded the title of World Champion 2026 and also became Champion of Italy. The dog’s co-owner is Andreana Blinova from Moscow.

Another representative from Kyrgyzstan, Favorite-Alatoo Ai Peri, became the vice world champion.

This is not the first international success for Kyrgyz Taigans. In 2023, a dog named Velikolepnaya Peri Alaya became World Champion at an exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland, also earning the Swiss Champion title and the Geneva Grand Prix. She is currently considered one of the most titled Taigans in the world.

The owner and breeder of Favorite-Alatoo, Esengeldy Mukeev, noted that the kennel now holds two world champion titles and one vice world champion title among Taigans.
