President calls for EAEU to become center of technology, artificial intelligence

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov spoke at the expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, calling for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to become a platform for technological partnership and joint innovation.

According to the head of state, the global economy is undergoing profound transformation amid growing geoeconomic competition, rapid technological development, and changing forms of international cooperation.

«Today, issues of national economic resilience, technological sovereignty, supply chain security, food and energy security are coming to the forefront,» Sadyr Japarov said.

The president stressed that modern competition is unfolding not only over access to technologies, but also over the ability to rapidly implement and effectively use them in the real sector of the economy.

The head of state expressed confidence that the EAEU is capable of becoming not only a common market, but also a platform for technological development.

«We are confident that the joint development of artificial intelligence will become a powerful driver of the union’s technological progress,» he stated.

Sadyr Japarov also called for intensifying trade cooperation within the union. According to him, agreements concluded within the EAEU should not remain merely formal, but should genuinely simplify procedures, accelerate the movement of goods, and expand market access for producers from member states.

The president emphasized that trade liberalization should not create threats for domestic producers.

Special attention was also paid to industrial cooperation among EAEU countries.

«Every industrial project means new jobs, technologies, and real strengthening of ties between the economies of our countries. This is a movement from fragmentation toward a unified industrial space,» he said.

Concluding his speech, Sadyr Japarov highlighted the importance of developing science and joint research within the EAEU, stressing that the next wave of global competitiveness will be built around the integrated application of modern technologies.
