SCNS closes 3 madrasahs, detects violations in religious schools in Kyrgyzstan

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) conducted inspections of religious educational institutions as part of its efforts to prevent the dissemination of non-traditional religious ideas and the possible recruitment of minors.

According to the SCNS, 19 madrasahs were inspected. As a result, three educational institutions were closed due to the lack of permits, and investigative measures have been initiated.

Additionally, work of two more madrasahs was temporarily suspended and they were fined for gross violations of sanitary and epidemiological regulations. Four institutions received warnings requiring them to correct the identified deficiencies.

It was also established that part of religious literature in some madrasahs failed the required inspection and was sent to the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan (SDMK) for examination.

According to the SCNS, orphans and children of migrant workers were identified among the students, and information about them has been forwarded to the relevant authorities.

The security services emphasized that such inspections will be conducted on a systematic basis and called on religious institutions to strictly comply with legal requirements and sanitary standards.
