Large plants in Kyrgyzstan begin to limit purchase of milk

Large dairy processing plants began to limit purchase of milk or temporarily suspended production. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Issyk-Kul LLC (a subsidiary of Umut and K LLC) did not purchase milk for three days. But since June 10 it resumed the process with restrictions.

Ala-Too Sut Agricultural Complex did not work for the second day. The plant was closed for repairs. The enterprise started purchase of milk today.

Ak-Bulak Plus LLC did not work on June 10, but resumed purchases in limited quantities today.

Sut-Bulak and Ak-Zhalga CJSC also purchase milk with restrictions.

Such small enterprises as Mai-Bulak Karakol and Balykchi-Sut LLC purchase milk as far as the production capacity of the plants allows, namely about five tons.

After the meeting of the heads of enterprises with local authorities in mid-May, farmers reached an agreement with milk processing plants on payment for milk in the amount of 27 soms per liter. The farmer received this amount, not counting the margin of milk collectors. The settlements were made in this way for the last ten days of May, and from June 1 to June 10 the payment was already 25-26 soms per liter.

«Restrictions are related to the fact that plants cannot purchase milk in large quantities due to the inability to make payments to farmers, as well as the lack of sales of finished products. Some heads of milk processing plants justify the stop of production by necessary repair work. According to representatives of plants in Issyk-Kul region, the dairy market will stabilize in the coming days with setting the purchase price for milk at about 25 soms per liter,» the Ministry of Agriculture said.
