President gets acquainted with work of Kara-Balta Mining Plant

The President of Kyrgyzstan got acquainted with the production activities of the flagship of the metallurgical industry — Kara-Balta Mining Plant.

Sadyr Japarov was informed about the main production indicators of the enterprise, the volume of work performed, payments to the budget and social programs. The management of the plant reported that with the introduction in December 2019 of a ban on the extraction and development of uranium and thorium deposits in the Kyrgyz Republic, the enterprise suspended processing of uranium concentrates. The main workshop has been mothballed, while all the equipment has been preserved.

In order to retain the personnel potential of the plant, a new production facility has been launched since September 2022 — processing of gold-bearing ores. To date, the average daily processing is 100 tons of ore in terms of leaching, 500 tons in terms of enrichment and 20 tons in terms of concentrate. Launch of the plant at full industrial capacity is expected in March 2023.

The city-forming plant provides 220 jobs in Chui region.

Having listened to information about the prospects for creation of a chain for processing all types of concentrates and increasing the potential of the Kara-Balta Mining Plant, the head of state recommended its management to pay special attention to the compliance of products with international quality standards.
