It is planned to produce up to 30,000 tons of fish per year in Chui region. Kydyr Zhunushaliev, a specialist at the Fishery Registry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, told at a press conference in Bishkek.
The main fish farms, he said, are located in Chui region: carp breeding is in its western part, trout breeding is in its eastern part.
«In 2021, we organized a competition to lease land plots of Kurp-Sai, Uch-Korgon, Shamaldy-Sai reservoirs to entrepreneurs. In the near future, we will assign these plots to business entities. According to our calculations, the annual production of fish will be at least 8,000-13,000 tons in the mentioned reservoirs, and in the future — 30,000 tons or more,» he said.
Kyrgyzstan exports up to half of the produced fish to Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries.
