Migrants leave Kyrgyzstan, 45 percent of them - women

«About 45 percent of migrants from Kyrgyzstan are women. Therefore, gender issue in this area always remains topical, along with issues of external migration, refugees, border, unsettled circular migration,» said Samat Toktobolotov, Deputy Chairman of the State Migration Service, at the 5th meeting of Senior Officials of the Almaty Process in Bishkek.

Regional representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees for Central Asia Yasuko Oda noted that, according to UN statistics, 69.5 million people in the world are forced to move around the territories of countries and beyond.

According to her, the Almaty Process originated to provide a regional platform and dialogue for solution of problems in order to avoid a humanitarian crisis.
