National Geographic photographer gets interested in Kyrgyz traditional clothes

National Geographic photographer Chris Rainier shoots the Kyrgyz traditional clothes on September 10-13 in Chon-Kemin valley and Ton district of Issyk-Kul region. Kiyiz Duino Public Foundation reported.

This is reportedly the first visit of the photographer to Kyrgyzstan.

«I have been photographing traditional costumes and culture of the peoples for more than 20 years. I got the idea to come to Kyrgyzstan a long time ago, and I knew that the Kyrgyz were one of the few peoples who know and preserve their history, culture and traditions. I’m surprised at how traditional clothes are preserved,» said Chris Rainier.

He added that he would show the photos to whole world in order the people to know about such people, who preserve their culture.

Chris Rainier is one of the leading documentary photographers. He is an editor of the National Geographic Traveler magazine, specializing in culture, a photographer of the National Geographic Adventure magazine and the photo correspondent for Day by Day Radio program. He is a winner of prestigious awards.
