EEU countries can jointly resist terrorism and extremism

The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union can jointly resist terrorism and extremism. The First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia Venaly Amelin told today at a round table discussion.

According to him, the activities of the banned international terrorist organizations represent the most serious problem.

«In 2017, terrorist attacks were prevented on the territory of Russia, members of the bandit groups were liquidated. Citizens, who are suspected of terrorist activities, are not allowed to enter the Russian Federation. This became possible thanks to interstate cooperation within CSTO,» Venaly Amelin said.

Despite the efforts made, about 3,000 citizens of Russia and CIS left for the Middle East. According to him, the recruitment of citizens continues.

«It is obvious that government measures should be supported by preventive work at the level of the countries of the region,» Venaly Amelin said.
