Full equipment of checkpoints in Kyrgyzstan postponed for two years

The term of full technical equipment of checkpoints on the border of Kyrgyzstan is postponed for two years. There is no time to make the required equipment. It was stated today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on economic and fiscal policy.

The Ministry of Economy submitted for discussion a draft resolution, according to which the term for equipping the checkpoints is to be moved to August 12, 2019. As the head of the Ministry of Economy Artem Novikov said at the meeting, the extension of the terms is connected with the fact that there are no capacities for the manufacture of inspection systems in a short period of time.

Recall, equipment must be supplied by Russia within the framework of technical assistance in amount of $ 200 million. It’s about large scanners for viewing the contents of cars. Russia has only one enterprise that produces such equipment, and the production of one complex requires at least six months.

«We have repeatedly appealed to the Russian side with the question that the deadline for the implementation of the agreement on transitional provisions is coming to an end. They went to meet us on many points. There is only a point for equipping with inspection complexes. Therefore, we postpone the deadline,» Artem Novikov said.

Up to date, the Kyrgyz side has already received $ 16 million to create information systems. $ 2 million has been allocated within the assistance to the State Customs Service.

«Countries can introduce restrictive measures on the traceability of goods from Kyrgyzstan, if we do not approve the amendments,» the Minister of Economy said.

As a result of the consideration, the deputies supported the amendments to the protocol by a majority vote.
