Kyrgyzstan can become “elderly” country by 2030

Kyrgyzstan can become «elderly» country by 2030. This was announced today at the presentation of the study «Elderly people in the Kyrgyz Republic».

It is noted that people at the age of 50+ today make up a quarter of the population.

Ten percent of the elderly are single, 30 percent are married. 13 percent of single elderly people in cities and 11 percent in villages live in rented housing.

Almost all the elderly (99 percent) have a TV, slightly fewer citizens (90 percent) — a refrigerator, 77 percent have a washing machine and only 27 percent have an electric water heating system.

Electricity supply is 98.4 percent. Natural gas is found in 58 percent of the townspeople and only 5 percent of the villagers. Cold water is in 67 percent of rural households.

At the same time, low rates were noted for the presence of a bathroom and an internal toilet.

In total, the survey was conducted in four thousand households. The most numerous is in the south of the republic — in the Osh region. In seven percent of households, 11 or more people live there. At the same time, in urban areas and in the north of the country, one to five people live in households.
