Sanctions and fines await organizers of illegal religious camps

The State Commission for Religious Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has reminded the public of liability for organizing religious camps and courses without state registration and the required permits.

The agency reported that, under the Law «On Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations,» only registered entities authorized to conduct religious activities are allowed to organize summer religious camps, short-term courses, and other religious educational events.

In connection with the start of the summer season, the commission urged organizers to strictly comply with legal requirements when conducting religious educational activities.

The state commission emphasized that religious camps and courses organized without registration or the legally required permits will be considered an offense.

«Appropriate administrative measures will be taken against such organizers in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the statement says.

The agency also called on citizens to pay attention to the legality of religious camps and educational courses to which children and adolescents are sent.
