Deputy Chairman of the Association of International Cargo Carriers of Kyrgyzstan Igor Golubev told about the work being done to create a new transport corridor across the Caspian Sea.
According to him, this route will start in Turkmenbashi and end in Astrakhan using ferries.
«We have initiated a project that will make it possible to transport cargo by an alternative route. There is a political decision for us to find a ferry manufacturer, produce them and deliver them to the Caspian Sea for Kyrgyz carriers,» Igor Golubev noted.
The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Transport are actively working on the implementation of the project, he said. In particular, the Ministry of Transport is looking for ferries on the Mediterranean and Black Seas to transfer them to the Caspian Sea. Deepening work is being carried out in Astrakhan, since the water level in the sea is decreasing and it needs to be deepened.
Recall, TASS reported in October that the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov discussed the opening of a new alternative route at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk. It is noted that currently goods are mainly delivered via Kazakhstan, and the new logistics route will pass through the Caspian Sea. At the same time, it will connect two main international transport corridors — North — South and West — East.
Thus, the new logistics route for the delivery of goods from the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic and back will pass through the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
It is expected that the route through the Caspian Sea can reduce the distance of delivery of goods for the southern, north Caucasian, central and northwestern regions of Russia. At the same time, transit through Kazakhstan will remain a priority for transportation from Volga, Siberia, the Urals and the Far East regions.
