There is enough natural gas in Mailuu-Suu and Kochkor-Ata in Jalal-Abad region to supply the population of the southern regions of the country. Arzymat Aldayarov, Acting Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, said at a meeting of the Committee on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy of the Parliament.
According to Soviet geologists, these fields contain 4.5-5 million cubic meters of gas. These reserves are included in the state balance. An audit of the fields was recently completed, and a report is being prepared, after which the Cabinet will decide who will be engaged in extraction, he said.
Arzymat Aldayarov told that the results of the audit must be confirmed by geological exploration.
He also reported that an agreement was signed in 2018 to attract Gazprom investments into Kyrgyzneftegaz.
