A meeting of the Heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in a narrow format began in Bishkek at Ala-Archa state residence.
It is attended by the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.
Kyrgyzstan chairs the CIS this year.
It is expected that special attention will be paid to the topic of ensuring security in the Commonwealth space. A number of decisions are expected to be made to enhance coordination in such areas as the fight against terrorism and extremism, organized crime, illegal drug trafficking, and corruption.
