Nine cases of meningococcal infection registered in Kyrgyzstan for week

Nine cases of meningococcal infection have been registered in Kyrgyzstan for a week. The Department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision informed 24.kg news agency.

There is a slight increase in the incidence compared to the previous week, when 7 cases were detected.

«Meningococcal infection is characterized by cyclicity and seasonality; cyclical rises in incidence are repeated every 13-15 years. The last rise in the incidence was observed in 2015, there has been a gradual, seasonal rise since 2022,» the department noted.

The main symptoms of meningococcal disease are severe headache, repeated vomiting, not associated with eating and not bringing relief, fever up to 39-40 degrees, chills, lethargy, pale skin, refusal to eat and drink.

One of the characteristic symptoms that you should definitely pay attention to is the appearance of a rash.

The disease is dangerous because it can develop in a matter of hours and even minutes. Therefore, when the first symptoms of the disease appear, it is urgent to seek medical help and not self-medicate.
