The estimated cost of the project for the reconstruction of the node at Kambar-Ata HPP 2 is 1.5 billion soms. Deputy Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Baigaziev told journalists.
According to him, since Kambar-Ata 2 has been commissioned, its operating capacity is 70-90 megawatts. It has communication lines with Kurpsai hydroelectric power station and two transformers with a capacity of 63 megavolts.
«When fully loaded, synchronous oscillations will occur. Therefore, 30 megawatts steadily made up the pent-up capacity. Investors proposed to use this capacity and in return to replace the lines of Karakul node towards Kambar-Ata 2. In addition, it is planned to replace two transformers with the corresponding reconstruction of networks. If all this is done, then in the future all these synchronous oscillations will not occur,» Taalaibek Baigaziev said.
«Now it is planned to reconstruct the second unit of Kambar-Ata 2. In the future, we plan to supply 500 kilovolts to the grid. If there is no reconstruction, the pent-up capacity will be 150 megawatts in the future. Therefore, in order not to wait and not waste time, we decided to use this opportunity. But the agreement has not been signed yet. All details of the project will be studied, then an investment agreement will be drawn up. Instead of generating nothing and standing at zero, we’d better get the networks reconstructed,» he concluded.
