Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan comments on closure of private medical schools

Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev explained to 24.kg news agency how he intends to close 17 private medical schools.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Education and Science is responsible for licensing educational institutions in the republic. When issuing a license, the presence of clinical sites, premises, teaching staff is taken into account. Social media users were surprised by this statement of the head of the Ministry of Health.

«I can close them, because the Ministry of Health issues a certificate of the presence of clinical sites. I am revoking these certificates by order, and then automatically their licenses become invalid. The Ministry of Education will have to close these educational institutions. When I say something, I first study everything with lawyers for several months. I am a minister and do not throw my words right and left. The oligarchs and those who took bribes will begin to defend themselves. But how can students be taught if there are no clinical sites, morgue, patients? Everything is clear there,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.

When answering the question how these certificates were issued then, he replied: «They did not check the clinical sites. Certificates at the Ministry of Health were issued simply for money, they were issued five to ten years ago, let the law enforcement agencies check it, I don’t know who worked then.»

The minister stressed that the oligarchs want to «remove him by any means.» «Physically remove or dismiss, because this business will close on September 1. They receive millions of dollars from foreign students, but spend very little on education, they do not teach anything. KSMA, KRSU, Osh University will continue working ... Do we need money or people’s health? Imagine who will treat us in 10-15 years? Those who have never seen the sick and do not know where the kidneys are. The oligarchs will leave, and the common people will be treated here,» he said.

I closed the faculty at the Agricultural Academy. How can doctors be trained there? Let them vet the animals!

He did not rule out that educational institutions would be able to get certificates again. «My team, the commission, will check the clinical sites. Those who can create conditions, prove the presence of teaching staff, will receive certificates. Private and state medical schools will compete and work. The most important thing is to put everything in order before September 1, the beginning of the new academic year. Students of those educational institutions that do not receive certificates will be able to go to normal institutions that have a high rating,» the head of the Ministry of Health concluded.

At least 22 higher educational institutions train doctors and pharmacists in the republic. The majority of students in them (77 percent) are citizens of Southeast Asia and the Arab world. In 2020, Pakistan blacklisted medical schools of Kyrgyzstan and did not recommend its citizens to enroll in them. After that, an interdepartmental commission was created in the Kyrgyz Republic to resolve the situation.
