At least 1,200 weapons stolen in 2010 in Kyrgyzstan

At least 1,200 weapons have been stolen in Kyrgyzstan in 2010. The population has 608 weapons left. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Orozaliev announced today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on law, order, fight against crime and combating corruption.

According to him, currently, only 555 pieces of stolen weapons have been confiscated. The population has 462 automatic weapons.

«In this regard, it was decided to take measures on the voluntary surrender of weapons. According to the government decree, 9,600 soms is paid for return of an automatic weapon. Previously, it was 4,800 soms,» Almazbek Orozaliev said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic proposes amendments to the law on weapons in order Kyrgyzstanis can voluntarily return weapons and cartridges.
