Yesterday the district court of Bazar-Korgon (Jalal-Abad oblast) was to consider confiscating the property of life-long-term human rights activist Azimzhan Askarov, the human rights center «Bir Duino» informed 24.kg news agency.
According to it, the hearing was postponed due to the failure of representatives of the Fund for State Property Management. The meeting was postponed to the next week.
Note, Azimzhan Askarov was sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of inciting ethnic hatred during the tragic events in the south in June 2010 and the murder of a police officer. In January 2017, the visiting collegium of the Chui regional court, where in July 2016 Askarov’s case was sent for reconsideration (as the Supreme Court of the United Nations Committee for the Protection of Human Rights interpreted this), upheld the verdict.
