Schoolchildren to take mandatory state language exam in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyz schoolchildren will take an exam in the state language when moving on to another grade. Zhyldyz Orozobekova, Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission on the State Language and Language Policy, told journalists.

The official refers to Article 17 of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on the State Language. It says that written and oral end-of-year exams in the Kyrgyz language are mandatory in general educational organizations (schools, lyceums, gymnasiums), and entrance and final exams in the state language — in organizations of primary, secondary and higher professional education.

Education in Russian sign language is allowed in specialized schools where children with hearing disabilities study.
