Over 300 Kyrgyzstanis left for Korea for employment in 2022

Since the beginning of the year, more than 300 citizens of Kyrgyzstan have left for South Korea for employment. Director of the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan Kubandyk Akmatbekov told at a press conference.

«Two charter flights were organized. Another 20 people are leaving for Korea from June 7 to June 9. We received 118 contracts for our citizens just yesterday. We have set ourselves the task to completely close the quota for 1,800 places this year,» he said.

Director of the center noted that labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan have the same rights as citizens in the Republic of Korea. At the end of their four-year contract, their pension contributions are returned to them.

«The amounts are large. From $10,000 to 20,000, depending on the terms of the contract,» Akmatbekov said.

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan are sent to Korea by the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, this work was suspended by the Korean side in March 2020. From December 29, 2021, the country resumed acceptance of Kyrgyzstanis under employment contracts.
