Bishkek will host a solemn event in honor of the World Hijab Day today for the seventh time. Organizers of the event told 24.kg news agency.
It will be another large-scale and unique event held at the Toktogul Satylganov National Philharmonic Hall, timed to coincide with the World Hijab Day. The solemn awarding of civil activists and media representatives in several nominations will take place.
«The event is organized by the Islamic Umma magazine. In 2019, the magazine headed by the editor-in-chief Eliana-Maryam Satarova was honored to be elected as the official Ambassador of the World Hijab Day in Kyrgyzstan for its contribution to the establishment of dialogue between women of different faiths, nationalities, views, educational activities, promotion of equal rights and opportunities for all women,» the organizers told.
This global initiative is supported by millions of women around the world and is marked in 114 countries.
The author of the idea of the World Hijab Day in 2013 was a Muslim woman from New York, Nazma Khan, who in response to discrimination on religious grounds decided to take the first step, telling the world about the importance of the rights of Muslim women to wear the headscarf.
The festive event will also take place in Osh city tomorrow.
