Kyrgyzstan lags behind CIS countries in terms of vaccination rates

Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov held a regular meeting of the operational headquarters for combating coronavirus infection.

According to the government’s press service, officials discussed the current epidemiological situation in the republic, which, according to the Ministry of Health, is stable today.

Edil Baisalov instructed the Ministry of Health to constantly monitor the epidemiological situation and, if necessary, immediately inform the headquarters to take the necessary measures.

The issue of vaccination of the population against COVID-19 was also discussed. Edil Baisalov stressed that success of the vaccination campaign depends on local leaders and on the correct setting of tasks for them.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the Kyrgyz Republic takes one of the last places in terms of vaccination rates among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and reminded of importance of conducting explanatory work among citizens about the need to get vaccinated.

Additional vaccination centers will be opened in Bishkek and a new awareness-raising campaign will be launched.

Regional and city heads were instructed to carry out an inventory in healthcare organizations for the availability of equipment for liquid oxygen.

Edil Baisalov reminded of the criminal liability of the heads of the healthcare system and local authorities in case when patients are not provided with equipment supplying oxygen during a new wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
