The parliamentary faction SDPK has decided on a candidate for ombudsman. After a short discussion, the deputies nominated Tokon Mamytov, the General of Special Services, for the post of the main human rights defender of the country.
In total, seven people have submitted their documents. Two members of the speaker’s office — Urmatbek Aralbaev and Albert Kolopov — are among them, as well as the civil activist Rita Karasartova, a lawyer Gulnaz Ergeshova and Moldokun Abdyldaev, the ex-plenipotentiary representative of the president in the Parliament.
After all factions of the Parliament nominate their candidates (there should be not more than three of them according to the law), a meeting of the profile committee will take place, where the candidates will present their programs. Then, the deputies will start election of an ombudsman at a parliamentary session.
