Rally in support of Sadyr Japarov takes place in Bishkek

A rally in support of Sadyr Japarov is taking place at the building of Pervomaisky District Court in Bishkek. The participants demand a fair verdict and release of ex-deputy of Parliament.

Sentence in the criminal case of Sadyr Japarov is expected to be announced today.

Recall, the ex-parliament member is accused of hooliganism, resistance to power, hostage-taking and attempted murder in 2013 in Karakol. According to investigators, it was he who organized the rally, the governor of the region Emilbek Kaptagaev was taken hostage at his order.

Emilbek Kaptagaev himself stated earlier and repeated in court that he personally does not blame Sadyr Japarov.

The former deputy was arrested on March 25 at a checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan and placed in pretrial detention center 1. On 2 April, he was found in a cell with cut veins and was transferred to the detention center 47, where the prison infirmary is located.

On July 20, Sadyr Japarov submitted documents to the CEC for participation in the presidential race.
